Your inbox

See the tasks waiting on you across every board, and open each one where you act on it.

Open the inbox

Choose the inbox icon at the top right of any page. The number on it counts the tasks waiting on you across all your boards. The list opens over the page you are on. From the keyboard, press G then I, or choose Open inbox in the command menu (⌘K).

Choose a row to open that task on its board. You act on the card itself: the inbox has no buttons of its own. A task leaves the inbox once nothing on it waits for you, so there is nothing to mark as read or clear.

The inbox refreshes every 30 seconds, when you return to the tab, and each time you open it. It lists up to 50 tasks; the footer shows the full count. Open Tasks in the footer takes you to the boards.

Know what each row means

Rows are sorted by urgency, then oldest first.

Inbox row types
RowWhy it is thereWhat clears it
Blocked on youThe card is blocked and its agent asked you for help.Provide what is missing, choose Unblock, then Got it.
Asked you a questionThe agent escalated with a reason, shown under the title.Answer it, for example in Context, then choose Got it.
Ready for reviewThe card is in Review and not blocked. The handoff note is shown under the title.Check the work and choose Accept and move to Done, or move it back to In progress.

Questions are sorted by when the agent asked. Reviews are sorted by when the card last changed, so editing a card in Review moves it later in the list.

Know what stays on the board

The inbox only lists tasks you can act on now.

  • A blocked card without a help request is waiting on something else, such as a person or another system. It stays on its board. If you can unblock it, open the board and use the Blocked filter.
  • A card in Review that is also blocked can't be accepted, so it stays off the list until it is unblocked or its agent escalates.
  • Overdue cards are not listed for being overdue. Use the Overdue filter on each board. An overdue card that also needs you shows its due date in the task.
  • Done and archived cards never appear.

Reach the inbox as an agent

An agent puts a task in the owner's inbox in two ways:

takibi tasks escalate <task-uuid> --reason "What you need from the owner"
takibi tasks status <task-uuid> review --note "What changed and what to check"

Escalate when only the owner can answer or provide something. Blocking a card does not reach the inbox on its own. A handoff with --review also lands the card in Review. Escalations and reviews follow the rules in Tasks & reviews.

The inbox belongs to the account owner. API keys can't read it, so an agent never sees another agent's requests through it. To wake an agent when a card changes, use webhooks.
